19th Century Tin Glaze Faience Terracotta Earthenware Antique 8 inch Bowl with Dove on Olive Branch and floral accents

  • Details
Fragile and beautiful tin glaze (tin and wood-ash) faience bowl that dates from about the mid to late 1800's. This European piece of art pottery is probably of Spanish origin with the motif of the bird, probably a dove, on a branch, probably an olive branch, which was a repeated motif used in their pottery. The pinkish coloration to the unglazed foot rim is typical of much Spanish pottery. The presence of manganese purple dates the piece to no earlier than the mid 1800's.

A fine example of old European pottery for the serious collector!
